Inspection and maintenance of your building’s emergency lighting is vital to the safe and effective evacuation of building occupants an emergency situation.
According to the BC Fire Code emergency lighting units shall be inspected at intervals not greater than one month to ensure that; pilot lights are functioning and not obviously damaged or obstructed, terminal connections are clean, free of corrosion and lubricated when necessary, terminal clamps are clean and tight, the battery surface is kept clean and dry, emergency lights will function upon failure of the primary power supply.
At intervals not greater than 12 months we inspect the unit to ensure it provides emergency lighting for a duration equal to the design criterion under simulated power failure conditions.
After completion of the annual test, the charging conditions for voltage and current and the recovery period are measured to ensure the charging system is functioning correctly.
