Fire safety Training

Emergency planning and training directly influence the outcome of an emergency situation. Facilities with well-prepared employees and well-developed preparedness plans are more likely to incur less structural damage and fewer, or less severe, employee injuries.

Our Training Division offers an assortment of training programs customized to your workplace.

  • Fire safety training

This course is designed for employees who may be required to use a workplace fire extinguisher. The program is customized for the hazards, location and types of fire extinguishers available in your workplace.

  • Fire safety plan training

This course instructs staff and other occupants on the contents of your Fire Safety Plan and important components of your building’s fire protection systems. This training is required by the BC Fire Code for Supervisory Staff before they are given any responsibility for fire safety.

  • Emergency evacuation drill evaluation

Fire drills ensure that all staff, residents and visitors understand what they need to do if there is a fire at your premises. Our drill evaluation helps you to test the effectiveness of your fire evacuation plan and, in turn, identify ways to improve it.

  • Workplace safety inspection training

WorkSafeBC requires that your workplace’s occupational health and safety program must include regular inspection of premises, equipment, work methods and work practices, at appropriate intervals, to ensure that prompt action is undertaken to correct any hazardous conditions found. Workplace Safety Inspection Training is customized to the forms, processes and hazards in your workplace.

  • Emergency preparedness and response training

Emergency planning and training directly influence the outcome of an emergency situation. Facilities with well-prepared employees and well-developed preparedness plans are more likely to incur less structural damage and fewer, or less severe, employee injuries.

An emergency situation in a large facility can be challenged by the need to control and account for the safe and orderly evacuation of staff, clients, visitors and other occupants of the facility.

This training is designed to provide an engaged understanding of your facility’s Emergency Evacuation Plan. It incorporates a practical application of the plan in order to promote understanding, maintain accountability, avoid injuries, reduce property damage and encourage the best possible outcome in a difficult situation.
